Nanomaterials, owing to their distinctive physicochemical properties, have been extensively applied in the food industry. Inorganic nanomaterials, encompassing metallic nanomaterials, metal oxide nanomaterials and carbon-based nanomaterials, are widely employed in food packaging. Recent studies have indicated that the release of nanomaterials can have adverse effects on the environment and human health. This paper elucidates the application and safety research of inorganic nanomaterials in food packaging in recent years, offering insights for the secure utilization of inorganic nanomaterials in the food industry.
