real-time surveillance image compression system based on JPEG2000 image codec chip was designed for high resolution CCD camera. The article introduces the idea of system design and design of mainly hardware and software. Furthermore it describes the solution of image segmentation and data transfer. The test results indicate that the system is capable of real-time processing of high resolution image, and the lossless compressed data can be precisely recovered.
