Research on Image Compression Algorithms for Visual Cortex Prostheses

目前,视皮层假体已成为视觉修复实现的主要方法之一,而前期图像压缩在视皮层假体中占有重要的地位。本文结合人眼的视觉特性,对应用于视皮层假体中的图像压缩的方法进行了讨论。文章给出了视角与图像像素的换算方法,并建立了非均匀压缩模型,最后实现了不同区域内变分辨率的压缩,利用有限的点阵列实现了视觉信息的有效传递,使得图像处理过程更接近视觉处理过程。

Pre-image compression plays an important role in the visual cortex prostheses, which have become a main approach to restore the vision. This paper discussed an image compression algorithm for visual cortex prostheses by combining with the visual characteristics of the human eyes. A method of transform the visual angle into image pixel was proposed and then a non-uniform compression model was established in this article. Variable resolution in different regions was compressed using this model. Variable resolution compression method, which can achieve the effective delivery of visual information by using the finite point array, makes the image process much closer to the visual process than the traditional uniform compression method.
