工作流起源于生产过程和办公自动化领域，它作为一个新的研究方向受到人们的关注。随着SOA概念的兴起，BPEL4WS规范已成为现代工作流管理系统中的主要标准。本文介绍了工作流的背景，工作流引擎，Web Service技术，BPEL4WS业务流程语言等概念性的知识以及当前研究的热点和问题，并根据BPEL4WS在工作流领域的优势、发展趋势设计了一个基于J2EE的， 面向Web服务的工作流引擎。
he Work flow technology originated from the field of production process and office automation. As the new developing direction, it is concerned by more people. Business Process Execution Language for Web Service (BPEL4WS) is the main specification for the Workflow Management System today. This thesis first introduces the background of the Workflow, the engine of the workflow, the technology of Web Service and BPEL4WS. According the advantages of BPEL4WS in the area of Workflow, a workflow engine which is based on J2EE and SOA has been designed.
