移动通信正在飞速发展,出现了不同的网络结构,如何实现和优化异构网络之间的切换成为业界关注的问题。本文首先对当今移动通信领域内的前沿技术进行了概要介绍,包括IEEE 802.21、移动IPv6和快速移动IPv6等技术。之后分析了IEEE 802.21中定义的媒体独立切换业务技术对移动IPv6切换时延减少的影响,并且对异构网络中实现漫游切换的问题进行了理论研究。最后得出了快速移动IPv6和MIH的结合能够显著提高网络切换性能的结论。

Mobile communications is developing rapidly, and networks with various structures emerge. How to realize and optimize handoff between heterogeneous networks becomes a concern of the industry. This paper first outlines some main emerging technologies in the field of mobile communications, including IEEE 802.21, Mobile IPv6 and Fast Handover for the MIPv6 (FMIPv6). After that, the paper has an analysis of the impact on Mobile IPv6 handoff delay reduction from the adoption of Media Independent Handover (MIH) defined in IEEE 802.21. On the base of above analysis, the theoretical research on roaming and handoff in heterogeneous networks is conducted. At last, a conclusion that the cooperation of FMIPv6 and MIH could significantly improve the network’s handoff performance is summarized.
