In the scientific computing and engineering applications, 3D visualization of massive data require high performance of computer. Parallel visualization based on PavaView is an effective solution. In this paper the research progress, the techniques of compilation and software development of ParaView are reviewed in detail, and the application progress of ParaView is introduced as well as the direction of parallel visualization of massive data based on ParaView is indicated.
