Based on CALIOP / CALIPSO satellite data, characteristics of the haze occurred in the eastern Northwest China (ENWC) was analyzed. Taking the haze days occurred in ENWC in March and November 2013 for example, the aerosol particle shape and size distribution were analyzed. The results showed that: When haze occurred, the majority in the troposphere is the particles whose backscatter coefficient ranged from 0.8×10 - 3-2.5 ×10 - 3 km-1sr-1, and the backscatter coefficient decreased firstly and then increased with altitude. Aerosols volume depolarization ratio was mostly less than 20%. With increasing altitude the means aerosol irregularities were weaken. Color ratio was below 0.8 and for 8-12 km centered at 0.0-0.4, respectively.
