蚂蚁与蜜源昆虫互作是昆虫之间重要的关系之一,发挥着重要的生态功能。红火蚁是重要的入侵害虫,对生物多样性的影响已被熟知,但它与蜜源昆虫互作的生态学效应却缺少认识。本研究评价了红火蚁Solenopsis invicta Buren与扶桑绵粉蚧Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley这两种入侵害虫之间的互作对天敌的影响。研究发现红火蚁的照看影响了瓢虫对扶桑绵粉蚧的选择行为。红火蚁的存在显著降低了龟纹瓢虫对扶桑绵粉蚧的捕食量,其中幼虫的捕食量比成虫更容易受到影响。田间调查结果也发现,有红火蚁存在的情况下,扶桑绵粉蚧寄主植物上瓢虫的种类和数量远小于对照。因此,红火蚁与扶桑绵粉蚧建立互惠关系后对瓢虫的捕食功能产生严重的影响,进而更好保护了粉蚧促进其种群的发展。

The interaction between ants and honeydew-producing hemipteran insects is one of the important relationships among insects that are vital for ecological functions. Solenopsis invicta Buren is an important invasive pest that has an impact on biodiversity. However, knowledge on the ecological effects of its interaction with honeydew-producing hemipteran insects is insufficient. This study evaluated the impact of the interaction between the two invasive species S. invicta and Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley on lady beetles. Lady beetle olfaction was found to be affected by the tending of S. invicta. Ant tending significantly reduced the predation of the lady beetle Propylaea japonica Thunbery, in which the larvae were more susceptible than the adults. The field investigation results also showed that the number of species and quantity of the lady beetles in treatment plots with ant tending are much lower than those without ant tending. Therefore, the mutualism between fire ants and mealybugs may have a serious impact on lady beetle predation once an interaction is established, which could promote mealybug population growth.
