Information flow is an important basis for LBS users’ payments. If LBS providers can satisfy users’ demands with minimum information flow, which will not only help save costs for users, but also reduce LBS servers’ work load. Therefore, this paper develops a mobile space-time envelope based on limited information flow. On the basis of a mobile user’s current location and velocity, a series of mobile space-time envelopes in the traveling direction will be built at the sampling frequency of vehicle positioning devices. Through this method, LBS providers will only return the information of the objects within a certain envelope to the user and reduce the information flow further by avoiding repeatedly transmitting unchanged information in two adjacent envelopes’ overlapping area. A practical experiment with mobile space-time envelopes is conducted to verify this method’s efficiency.
