Ethylene-insensitive3 (EIN3)-Like proteins (EILs) are important nuclear transcription factors in ethylene signal transduction pathways.Two pairs of gene specific primers were designed according to the cDNA nucleotide sequence of Cm-EIL1 and Cm-EIL2 genes from melon(Cucumis melo L. cv.Andes) in Genbank. The full-length coding regions of the Cm-EIL1 and Cm-EIL2 cDNA were cloned by RT-PCR from ripening fruit of melon(Cucumis melo L. cv. Hetao), and were 2082 bp and 1848 bp respectively. The alignment of nucleotide sequence indicated that the cDNA sequence was highly homologous to that of reported corresponding cDNA in melon. Expression levels of Cm-EIL1 and Cm-EIL2 mRNA were investigated at different development stages of melon fruit by qPCR, and showed that the expression patterns of these genes were highly relative to fruit ripening process and ethylene production. It reveals that the genes may play an important role in fruit ripening.)
