he process of secondary metabolites was in?uenced by several physical and chemical factors ,including nutrient supply, oxygen concentration, the effects of temperature and pH. These factors have been controlled and optimized in industrial fermentations in order to enhance metabolite production. With the development of recombinant DNA technology, genetic manipulation of biosynthetic pathways has provided new tools for approaching yields improvement of secondary metabolites. These methods are usually focused on redirecting precursor metabolic ?uxes,deregulation of biosynthetic pathways and overexpression of speci?c enzymes involved in metabolic bottlenecks. In addition, the heterologous expression of biosynthetic gene clusters in other organisms, looking not only for an increase of production levels but also to speed the process.
