he thermodynamic function of state for two-component van Waals gas mixtures is derived by equating the number density of each material within its subvolume. It is demonstrated that equating the subvolume number densities is likely to provide a accurate approximation in van der Waals gas mixtures. The results may help to understand the damping of sound waves and thermodynamic properties of the air.
