本文利用太赫兹时域光谱系统(THz-TDS)研究了聚四氟乙烯(PTFE)这种典型的光学不透明材料的应力双折射效应。本文首先对一般的THz-TDS系统进行了改造,使其具有控制并感知系统中太赫兹波的偏振态的能力。让偏振太赫兹波穿透承受机械载荷PTFE试件,同时利用电阻应变片测量该试件所承受的应力。然后,对系统采集得到的太赫兹波信号进行傅里叶变换,并对其中的相位数据进行分析。通过分析试件所承受的应力与太赫兹波相位延迟之间的关系,证明了试件的折射率与所受应力之间成线性关系。这就证明了传统的应力光性定律在太赫兹波段内也是成立的。为利用该定律通过太赫兹波测量光学不透明材料的内部应力奠定了基础。

In this paper, THz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) system is used to study the stress-optical effect of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which is a typical optically opqaue materials. At first, the traditional THz-TDS system is updated so that it can control and sense the polariztion of the embed THz wave. The THz wave penetrates the PTFE specimen with mechanical loading. At the same time, the strain guages are used to measure the stress state undergone by the specimen. Then, fourier transform are applied on the captured THz wave, and the phase datum are analysed. The results shows that there is a linear relation between the applied stress and the phase delays of the penatrated THz wave. These results proved that the traditional stress-optical law is still right in the THz regime. It can be used to determine the interior stress of opticall opaque materials.
