he recent interest in WSN(Wireless Sensor Network) has led to a number of network protocols. Among those protocols, LEACH(Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) is popular because of its high energy-efficiency and low network delay. In this paper, a novel energy-efficient protocol for WSN called LEACH-M is presented, which combines improved multiple-hop routing form cluster head to BS instead of directly transmission in LEACH. Besides, LEACH-M adopts CSMA/CA(Carrier Sense Multi-Access with Collision Avoidance) as the MAC protocol. Simulation results, compared with LEACH, demonstrate that our novel protocol is more energy-efficient and prolongs the lifetime of the whole network.
