here are a large nubmer of leech species reported in China, about 1/6 of the world's. However, only a few pay attention to study on taxonomy of leech In China, the scope of investigation is limited and research level still wandering on surveying and descripting species. The study history and recent progression of leech taxomic research are reviewed, the issue of the classification in higher category of leech in the world, as well as synonyms of leech taxonomy in China are discussed. The new technologies and methods are prospected for solving those problems on leech.
