onjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a fatty acid that can be generated from linoleic acid (LA) by linoleic acid isomerase. In this study, the linoleic acid isomerase from Propionibacterium acnes was expressed heterologously, and the CLA was synthesized in Mortierella alpina, which is a polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) industrial production fungi. The CLA content reached up to 1.02 % (w/w) of the total fatty acid in M. alpina via codon optimization of PAI gene and the addition of substrate in fermentation medium. Our research provides a new valuable approach for the biosynthesis of CLA and accomplishes the biosynthesis of exogenous functional fatty in M.alpina.
