n automatic gain control (AGC) amplifier for CMOS image sensor has been designed. The AGC amplifier adopts translinear a variable gain amplifier (VGA) to realize a good linearity. It detects valley to present the strength of signal, and uses a succinct adjustment circuit to control the gain of VGA. A bandgap reference that does not need start-up circuit has been designed for the whole system. Simulated in SMIC 0.35 ?m CMOS, it can compress the dynamic range of 54.12 dB input to 7.36 dB output.
