Background: The deposition of Amyloid beta (Aβ) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Research status: It shows that the reduction of Aβ-degrading activity could result in Aβ deposition and is also close related with the pathogenesis of AD in the recent researches in the system of Aβ-degrading. Research purpose: in this review, the relationship between neprilysin (NEP) and the pathogenesis of AD was demonstrated in order to provide the strategy for treating AD.
