Evaluation of THF organic electrolyte for Al electrodeposition

In this study, cathode current efficiencies were almost above 90% in all electroplating experiment. No side reations are implication of high current efficiencies. Current distribution on cathode was found great, and uniform deposits could be electrodeposited on more complicated substrate. Energy consumption were acceptable when molar ratio of AlCl3 and LiAlH4 was less than 3:1 and current density below 4A/dm2. When molar ratio of AlCl3 and LiAlH4 was 3:1, corrosion resistance of Al deposits obtained was better.
