Over the past few decades, energy storage equipment has attracted widespread attention in various fields such as hybrid electric vehicles and smart portable electronic products. Transition metal sulfides (TMS), especially NiCo2S4, are expected to be commercialized as supercapacitor electrode materials due to their low cost, good conductivity, and redox reversibility. In this paper, some recent advances in various NiCo2S4 based electrode materials for supercapacitors are reviewed, including the modification of materials by morphology control and composite engineering, as well as the effect of modification on electrochemical properties. In addition, some effective strategies, challenges and future development trends for the further development of NiCo2S4-based electrode materials are discussed.
